How about a beautiful and nutritious green smoothie for breakfast? What I love most about this breakfast is that it takes about 5 minutes to prepare and it fills me up for most of the day. Anyhow, who wakes up and eats a few sticks of celery for breakfast? I don’t and I don’t know anyone who does. That’s why I put it in my smoothie..
The first thing I do when I wake up each morning is hop straight into my exercise clothes, then into the kitchen to prepare my smoothie. I always find myself feeling hungry after morning exercise so having a 1-2 litre green smoothie ready and waiting is always very welcome.
This recipe is a variation to my original ‘Raw Banana Caramelly Smoothie’ which you’ll find listed in the recipe section. I’m using similar ingredients and adding a few extras. As you can see in the photo above this one is PACKED with chia seeds and I really am in love with them. I always soak my chia seeds over night (I soak all my seeds or nuts overnight) and usually I prepare a large jar full of them so it lasts for 3-4 days as I use around one cup in each smoothie.
Before I get into the recipe, just a quick note about the blender. I use the Omega BL442S – which has a huge 3HP motor – and in my opinion it’s on par with the Vitamix. I’ve used both and I like them both. I’ve chosen the Omega BL442S because it offers similar specs but is way more cost effective. The Omega blenders are new in Australia and I think we’re really lucky to have them here. You will need a high speed, good quality blender to break down vegetables like celery, otherwise you won’t achieve a nice smooth consistency (just like a milkshake).
Okay, here it goes – please send me a comment if you like this smoothie, as it really is one of my favourites. It’s packed with nutrition but best of all, it tastes really yummy and it’s so quick to make. Grab a nice tall glass jar, pour it in, and off you go to work or school or play.
